ASCEND Online has a number of excellent resource kits available. Please read the FAQ below first, before requesting any items.
To request a kit, please fill out the form at the bottom of the page and indicate the resource number.
Who can borrow?
All ASCEND enrolled families are eligible to sign out Special Education library materials.
Families may start to borrow from the ASCEND Library on September 1st.
April 15th will be the last day to borrow or renew item(s).
All materials must be received by the ASCEND SE resource department, or returned to your education coach by May 31st, for the end of year inventory.
Once you have viewed the resource catalogue, you will use a user-friendly order form to make your request. The ASCEND SE resource department will contact you by email to confirm.
Families may have no more than 2 items signed out at one time.
You may renew borrowed item(s) by emailing or phoning the ASCEND SE resource department.
An item(s) cannot be renewed if it has been requested by another family. You will be placed on the wait list for the item.
A renewal cannot be made if there are other overdue items.
All SE Library resources are loaned for a maximum of 12 weeks (including shipping time) unless an alternative agreement has been established with the office.
A library check out card is inserted in each SE Library resource and placed within the zippered bag with the due date clearly indicated.
Please ensure all items on the included inventory list are enclosed within the return envelope before returning to the ASCEND SE resource department.
A return post envelope will be included with the kit if enough funds are available in the student’s SE Budget or in the family’s Genius account. Otherwise return postage is the family’s responsibility. Families may choose to return items to their learning coach.
The ASCEND SE resource library is not responsible for delays in shipping and we cannot verify the date when items were placed in the mail. Therefore, a borrowed item is only considered returned once it is received in the ASCEND SE resource department.
Damage and liability.
Families are responsible for keeping the kit’s contents in good condition and for the timely return of all SE library items borrowed.
For each item that is not returned, given to learning coach, or renewed before the due date, the family will be charged with an overdue fine of $0.50/day to a maximum of $10/item.
If a kit is more than 4 weeks late, the replacement cost of the item plus a processing fee will be charged to the family. At that point, the family may choose to keep the item.
Charges are also levied for lost items, including the replacement cost of the item plus a processing fee.
Families returning items in a damaged condition will be charged a repair fee or the replacement cost of the item plus a processing fee.
We will attempt to deduct all fees from the family’s Genius account first.
If any charges cannot be paid with funds in the Genius account, an invoice will be sent out and the family’s borrowing privileges will be suspended until the payment is made.
Payments can be made by cheque to the ASCEND office.
